Was Blanca Blanco the Oscars’ biggest fashion disaster or an intentional eyeful?

Wardrobe malfunction? Not likely.
There is a reason actress Blanca Blanco "didn’t seem fazed" by baring her lady bits on the red carpet at the 89th annual Academy Awards. It was intentional.
She didn’t have "an almighty wardrobe malfunction in her extreme thigh split dress", as London’s Daily Mirror reported earlier today.
Nor did she suffer, as news.com.au put it, "what will probably go down as the night’s biggest red carpet disaster".
Blanco meant to give photographers an eyeful. And she’s been happily retweeting remarks about her "overexposure" ever since.
If you want to make a statement, ditch the duds. That seems to the Hollywood mantra.

Sharon Stone might have been one of the first -- flashback to the "accidental" less-crossing scene in the 1992 flick Basic Instinct -- but plenty have followed, from Britney to Beyonce, Rihanna to J-Lo.
Going commando is not only de rigeur in celebrity circles.
It’s big in not-so-beige suburbia.
What began with the unforgivable Visible Panty Line faux pas has morphed into some bizarre notion of what it means to feel sexy, free and liberated.
It’s about getting away with something considered risqué -- until a gust of wind blows and your privates are public.
Women my age who do it tell me it makes exercising (which I assume includes horizontal folk dancing) easier.
They save money on expensive knickers and there’s less laundry to do.
Oh, and men love it. Of course they do.

In a society that objectifies women, is this any surprise?
Well, as unfashionable as modesty might be, I’m all for it.
Women are more than the sum of their lady parts. They also have brains and talent, which makes me wonder if those who deliberately bare all are compensating for a lack of either or both.

YouTube's golden girl Tanya Burr suffers a fashion fail

She made her millions by becoming one of the globe’s biggest vloggers, dishing advice on all things beauty and fashion as well as general musings on life to keen twentysomethings.

Rare fashion fail: The 26-year-old stood out in bold ensemble, consisting of a black sheer pleated skirt and knitted grey blouse

But as the creme de la creme of the fashion world united at the London Coliseum on Monday for the British Fashion Awards, Tanya Burr made quite an impression in her questionable style choice.

Accompanied by her husband Jim Chapman, the 26-year-old YouTube star stood out in bold ensemble, consisting of a black sheer pleated skirt and knitted grey blouse.
She happily drew attention to her toned curves in the dramatic flowing number, which allowed her to show off her limbs, elongated in a pair of chic Christian Louboutin heels.

With her luscious locks left loose in glamorous waves, Tanya plumped up her pout with rich slick of matted burgundy lipstick and emphasised her gorgeous eyes with several coats of jet-black mascara.

And that’s exactly what went through Tanya Burr’s mind as she got ready for the BFA’s with this gorgeous cotton-mesh and pleated gown by Barbara Casasola.
Whether the risk paid off is a matter of a opinion, but we reckon Tanya looks elegant in this semi sheer dress which features a see-through black skirt.

Barbara Casasola draws inspiration from the raw nature and rich modernist tradition of her native Brazil when it comes to her designs, and this dress really is the picture of contemporary style.

H & M’s Ongoing High-Fashion Experiment

H& M launched its first-ever designer collaboration, with the Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld, eleven years ago, in November of 2004. My wife, a fashion illustrator, was sure something historic was in the offing, and she convinced me to go with her to check it out. We arrived at H & M’s flagship store, on Fifth Avenue, shortly before the doors opened, at 9 A.M. A line of men and women, ranging from twentysomethings to senior citizens, and dressed in everything from jeans to luxury labels, snaked down Fifth and around the block. Inside, they fought their way through the crowds, garments heaped over their arms; they stripped to their underwear in the aisles to try things on. In the melee, I managed to grab and try on a black military-style wool-and-cashmere overcoat. Cut long and slim, it elongated my frame, narrowed it, lent it a subtle drama that touched off fantasies of myself as a windswept Byronic wanderer (as opposed to a middle-aged deskbound writer). The price: a hundred and forty-nine dollars. A Lagerfeld original would have cost a thousand dollars. I bought two. I still wear that coat, and strangers still stop me in the street to ask where I got it. The backup, tags intact, is stuffed at the back of my closet, ready to be called into service when the original starts to look shabby.

H & M’s collaborations with designers—including its first, with Karl Lagerfeld, in 2004—have helped erase the line between high and low fashion.

Donald Schneider, who is now the creative director of H & M, came up with the idea of that first collaboration with Lagerfeld. At the time, Schneider ran a fashion-consulting firm hired by H & M to review its advertising campaigns, and he had worked for eight years as the art director of Vogue Paris. A soft-spoken German now in his mid-fifties, with glinting gray stubble and a bald head, he continues to dream up, and oversee, the collaborations today. When I met with him in June, at a photo shoot for the Balmain launch, I admitted that I had been among the hoards who lined up for the Lagerfeld début, and that I scored the black military-style overcoat. He nodded vigorously and said, “a fantastic piece,” adding that he is still wearing the suit jacket from that collection, and still gets compliments on it. Up to that point, he said, anyone who mentioned an H & M ad campaign would talk primarily about the models. “I wondered, could we do a campaign where people talked about the fashion?”

The Fashion East Three

FIFTEEN years goes fast and even more so in fashion. This September marks the 15th anniversary of Fashion East, the non-profit designer support scheme launched by Lulu Kennedy in 2000 to nurture emerging talent, and once again it will put the spotlight on three fresh fashion names: Caitlin Price, Richard Malone and This Is The Uniform.

Price, a graduate of Central Saint Martins' MA, returns to the showcase, having made her debut in February with a collection that riffed on luxe duchesse-satin tracksuits.

Malone, meanwhile, is a new name to the line-up who graduated from the Central Saint Martins BA in 2014, scooping the LVMH Grand Prix scholarship at the same time.

And This Is The Uniform comes from the mind of Jenna Young, who launched the label in 2013 after completing a fine art textile degree at Goldsmiths University. This will be her LFW debut.

Topshop continues to be the headline sponsor of the initiative, having been so since 2003.
"All three designers are strong-minded. I'm delighted to be working with them," said Kennedy, whose fashion eye has plucked out the likes of Jonathan Saunders, Marques' Almeida, Meadham Kirchhoff and Simone Rocha to name just a handful.
